A 20th century silver cased singing bird automata music box, the rounded rectangular form with relief decoration to the whole depicting various genre scenes, and an applied opening catch in the form of a bird, the top with oval hinged lid lifting and opening to reveal a foliate scroll pierced gilt metal grille and an animated singing bird (a.f). In fitted case with a bird shape winding key. Hallmarked London import 1930, with importer's mark B. C. T Co. Ltd. Measuring 4 (10cm) by 2.5 (6.5cm). Displaying some general expected surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing with some slightly heavier wear around edges and to corners. Some surface rubbing and flattening to areas of the decoration with slight loss of detail, but overall still fairly good. The bird catch slides horizontally to open and close the lid and appears in working order. With traces of gildingUnfortunately the bird is in poor condition and in need of some attention, with just the metal inner body popping up. The outer body and feathers have come off, however they are present but also in poor condition. Hallmarked to base with further part hallmarks to lid and one side. All clearly legible.
