Description

A William IV silver marrow scoop, of conventional double-ended form with engraved lion crest, hallmarked Samuel Hayne & Dudley Cater, London 1836, length 8.5 (21.5cm). Together with a pair of George III silver shell grip sugar tongs, maker's mark for Samuel Godbehere & Edward Wigan, and two pairs of Victorian silver sugar tongs, the first in plain Fiddle pattern, London 1846 and the second in Fiddle, Thread and Shell pattern, London 1885, plus a small plated pair of tongs. Silver weight 5.86 ozt (182.2 grams). All pieces displaying some general expected surface wear, tarnishing, marks and scratches, commensurate with the age and use. Marrow scoop appears in fairly good overall condition and bowls have faired well. George III pair in tired and worn state with heavy tarnish throughout. Of thinner gauge with dints and knocks to stems. Marked only with maker's mark, Duty mark and lion passant. Hallmarks mostly clear and legible, with some rubbing.Condition reports are offered as a guide only and we highly recommend inspecting any lot to satisfy yourself as to its condition.
