A Russian style paper knife, the green guilloche enamel handle applied with gilt swags and husk motif borders, to a plain silver unmarked blade. Possible standard and maker's mark to the gilt mount. Length 8" (20.5cm). Displaying some general surface wear, marks and scratches and some tarnishing to the metal. Tip of blade has lost its sharpness and is quite rounded. Some minor edge nibbles and surface chips to enamel, particularly in the corners. Possible standard mark of 56 to the gilt mounts. The blade has been electronically tested and results show around 94% Ag. Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns. Fellows does not guarantee the standard of silver, gold or platinum unless an item is hallmarked. Results from electronically tested items should only be used as a guide and with caution, as false readings are possible. Condition reports are offered as a guide only and we highly recommend inspecting any lot to satisfy yourself as to its condition.
