A set of three George IV Irish silver entree dishes, each of plain oblong form with gadroon border detail, the cover further engraved to both sides with a coat of arms and motto below, within floral scroll surround, and the detachable ring finial also shaped with flower and scroll motifs. Hallmarked Charles Marsh, Dublin 1828. Length of base 11.75 (30cm), total approximate weight 153.39 ozt (4771 grams). Motto reads, 'EXALTABIT HONORE'.
All three displaying some fairly heavy surface wear, marks and scratches throughout. Also some tarnishing. Surface dints and bruises to all three, especially around the weaker areas such as the corners of the bases and generally around the edges. Some surface rubbing and light wear to the engraved armorials but they are generally still bright in appearance. Lids appear to be a fairly good fit but are not sitting flush so there are gaps and movement. One tureen cover appears to have some solder repairs to the base fitting for the finial. The finials do all fit and lock into position but do not feel secure and do not sit flush. Lid and base of each tureen are fully hallmarked. Part hallmarks to each detachable finial of a Harp Crowned and a Duty mark. All marks are rubbed and some are partly obscured or distorted but most are still legible. Condition reports are offered as a guide only and we highly recommend inspecting any lot to satisfy yourself as to its condition.
