Description

A late Victorian silver mustard pot, the oval form with fluted detail and lobed decoration to lower body and hinged lid, and a frosted glass liner, hallmarked Sheffield 1890, plus a further late Victorian example, also oval shape with similar decoration and a blue glass liner, hallmarked London 1899, together with two later silver pedestal mustard pots, one without liner, hallmarks for Birmingham probably 1913; all with associated silver condiment spoons, various dates and maker's marks. Weight excluding glass 10.06 ozt (313 grams). (4). Multiple item lot in mixed condition, all pieces displaying some general wear and tarnishing, and surface marks and scratches commensurate with age and use. Sheffield 1890 mustard with maker's mark for Harrison Brothers & Howson. Liner with minor rim chips/nibbles. London 1899 mustard with slight movement to hinge, when lid is closed it appears slightly off centre and rises a little on one side. A couple of knocks around base rim. Liner with rim nibbles. Maker's mark for Lambert & Co.Two pedestal pots with maker's marks for William Hutton & Sons Ltd & James Dixon & Sons Ltd. One without liner has a gilt interior. Hinge with slight movement, closes ok but rises very slightly. Other example has slight cracks around the join of the top of the handle to the rim and there is movement in this area. Liner appears slightly big, causing lid to rise a little when closed.Spoons appear generally ok.Some hallmarks rubbed but mostly clear and legible.Cannot guarantee that glass liners are original to the pots.Condition reports are offered as a guide only and we highly recommend inspecting any lot to satisfy yourself as to its condition.
