A 1920's silver mounted table cigarette box, the plain rectangular form with hinged cover and reed and ribbon border, opening to reveal a softwood lined double compartmented interior, hallmarked Kimberley & Hewett Ltd., Birmingham 1926, length 6 1/4 inches (16cm). Together with a smaller example having dual hinged engine turned cover with banded decoration and softwood lined interior, hallmarked E J Trevitt & Sons, Chester 1930, length 4 3/4 inches (12cm). (2). Larger example with surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing. Lid does not close flush to, and lid insert loose. Softwood lined interior with general wear, and damaged to one side. Smaller example with surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing, and some knocks and indentations. Plastic base worn and loose. Dual hinged mechanism stiff and does not consistently open well. Softwood interior damaged, base loose, divider detached, and softwood cover to lid slightly warped and loose.
