An early George III silver coffee pot, the baluster body to a footed base with domed, hinged lid and scrolled fruitwood handle, embossed and chased throughout with flowering foliage and scroll motifs surrounding an engraved armorial and crest, with acanthus detail to spout. Hallmarked Daniel Smith & Robert Sharp, London 1761. Height including pine cone finial 9 5/8 inches (24.5 cm), gross weight 24.95 ozt (776 grams). Heavily tarnished throughout and would benefit from a clean and polish. Displaying general expected surface wear, marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use but appears in fairly good overall condition.A few minor surface dints and bumps. Small repair to foot as a flood of solder is visible to the underside.Hinged lid appears in good working order and closes flush. Obvious signs of repair to both interior and exterior surface around the join of the finial to the lid, floods of solder visible. Either repaired or replacement finial.Hallmarks to main body located below the rim with a maker's mark to the base and further part hallmarks to lid, all clearly legible with light rubbing.A few cracks to wood handle.
