A Russian silver and enamel matchbook case, the rectangular form with pink guilloche enamel to the whole, the hinged lid applied with a double-headed eagle set with rose cut diamonds and central garnet cabochon, and further diamond set initial 'M' to the base, within gilt borders detailed with diamond set ribbon motifs. 84 standard mark. Measuring 2.5" (6.5cm) by 1.75" (4.5cm). In a fitted case. Displaying some general expected surface wear, marks and scratches. Edges and interior heavily tarnished. Enamel panels with some surface scratches and pitting marks. Small chips and losses to some of edges/corners. Damage to some of the stones with a couple of diamonds missing. The mounts are very dirty and all in need of a clean. Hinges with very slight movement but appear in working order. Rising very slightly on one side when closed. Marks struck along the side, of both lid and base. Rubbed but legible. Condition reports are offered as a guide only and we highly recommend inspecting any lot to satisfy yourself as to its condition.
