An Indian style parasol handle, the tapered form ornately chased to the whole with friezes depicting various wild animals and birds amongst stylised trees and foliage, appears unmarked, length 15 (38cm). Together with a double-ended measure cup, also unmarked, and decorated with native village scenes, height 4 (10cm). Gross weight 8.14 ozt (253.2 grams). (2). Both pieces displaying some general surface wear, tarnishing, marks and scratches.Parasol handle with a few surface dints and bumps, especially seen to the plain rounded end. Some surface wear and rubbing to the raised decoration, but still retaining much of the detail and definition. When tested the results show a silver content of around 89%Cup with some knocks to rim, especially around the larger end. Also some minor edge nicks. Decoration with some slight loss of surface detail to some areas but in overall good condition. When tested, results show a range between 91% to 93% Ag. Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns. Fellows does not guarantee the standard of silver unless an item is hallmarked.
