An Edwardian silver mounted oak and leather blotter of rectangular form, the oak front with applied central panel depicting an owl perched on a branch within Art Nouveau style tendril and floral motif surround, four further applied silver panels to each corner with conforming floral and foliate decoration, and opening to reveal material lining with a single pocket and some blotting paper. Silver hallmarked J Aitken & Son, Birmingham 1905, corner mounts 1908. Height 13.5 (34.5cm). |Appears in good overall condition, displaying some general surface scratches, marks and wear commensurate with the age and useSome tarnishing to the silver mounts. Also some minor surface dints and bumps and rubbing/wear to areas of the decoration causing some slight loss of detail or definition. But overall they appear in fairly good condition. Mounts are lifting very slightly in some places but all fixing pins are present. Hallmarked to each panel and all marks are clear and legible. There is a vertical split in the wood, although it was very likely made in two panels as the split is uniform Material lining all in very good order and likely not original. Condition reports are offered as a guide only and we highly recommend inspecting any lot to satisfy yourself as to its condition.
