A Middle-Eastern box modelled as a casket with foliate and scroll embossed hinged cover, marked sterling 925 to the underside and a further indistinct mark, length of base 5 1/4 inches (13.3 cm), weight 13.6 ozt (423 grams). Together with a continental octagonal-sided jewellery box with beaded rim detail and opening to a velvet lined interior, appears unmarked, length 4 3/8 inches (11 cm). (2). Both pieces displaying some general surface wear, marks, scratches and nicks. Casket - file mark to one edge, possible repair around hinge on one end. Construction lines visible to underside of base. Closes well but rising slightly at one corner. Marks to base quite heavily rubbed. Tests at 97-98%.Jewellery box - a few minor surface dints and nicks and some heavier scratched marks. Possible repairs around hinge but appears in good working order and closes well. The surface tests between 66-90% however a copper colour showing through to some areas, especially around the hinges and rim edge of lid.
