An early George III silver marrow scoop of typical double-ended form, hallmarked London 1765, maker's mark worn, probably James Tookey. Together with a later example with horse head crest to reverse of larger bowl, hallmarked London 1789 or 1809, maker's mark erased. Respective lengths 8 1/2 inches (21.5 cm) and 9 1/4 inches (23.5 cm), weight 2.93 ozt (91.2 grams). Both scoops appear in fairly good overall condition, displaying some tarnishing and general wear with surface scratches, marks and nicks. Some slightly heavier wear around edges, which appear thinner in places. Minor nick to the rim at the tip of the larger bowl of the later scoop. Some rubbing to hallmarks but mostly legible. Maker's mark on later example almost completely worn away with only traces remaining.
