1984年3月，关良受邀赴美国纽约进行考察和访问，并举办了艺术生涯中最后一场个展。在访美期间，关良用画笔记录下了美国各个洲的景色，本拍品为赴新泽西洲时所绘。

关 良 1900年生于广东番禹。1917年随兄东渡日本，先后入川端研究会师从画家藤岛武二，转入“太平洋画会”师从中村不折先生学习美术。1923年毕业于东京太平洋美术学院。归国后，相继任教于上海师范学校、上海美术专科学校、广州美术学校、重庆国立艺专等。曾任上海中国画院画师、浙江美院教授、中国美术家协会理事、上海分会副主席。1957年与李可染一起赴德国友好访问，莱比锡“伊姆茵采尔”出版公司为他出版画册。“文革”后在上海举办“关良回顾展”。1981年关良在香港办展，并且在港中大做讲演。1984年3月，关良应黄青新的邀请，赴美国纽约考察和访问，并在黄青新家中居住。访美期间，关良在纽约举办了艺术生涯中最后一个个展。
Guan Liang was born in Fanyu, Guangdong Province in 1900. At the age of 17, he went to Japan with his bother and studied art under the instruction of Fujishima Takeji in Kawabata Institution and later Nakamura Fusetsu in Pacific Art Association. In 1923, he graduated from Tokyo Pacific Art Academy. After return ingto China, he served teaching positions in Shanghai Normal School, Shanghai Art School, Guangzhou Art School and National Art Academy of Chongqing successively. He was also a professional artist in Shanghai Academy of Chinese Painting, professor with China Academy of Art, council member of China Artists Association and Vice Chairman of China Artists Association, Shanghai Branch. In 1957, he, along with Li Keran, visited Germany and his book was published in Leipzig. After the Cultural Revolution, 'Retrospective of Guan Liang' was staged in Shanghai.
