韩乐然 1898年出生于吉林省。自幼酷爱绘画艺术。1920年去上海，考入上海美术专科学校。1923年底在上海加入中国共产党。1924年被派回东北工作，先到奉天创办了私立美术学校，以教授美术作掩护开展革命工作。并与梅佛光一起组织了启明学社，为国民党的外围组织。1928年底，离开哈尔滨去齐齐哈尔。之后去苏联学习，然后去法国、英国、瑞士、荷兰和意大利写生、绘画。
Han Leran was born in Jilin in 1898. In 1920, he was enrolled to Shanghai Fine Art School. Since then, he had devoted himself into art education. A number of art institutions and schools were founded under his guidance. After 1928, Han furthered his study in France, U.K, Switzerland, etc.
