张云谷 1905年出生于江苏吴县，1938年毕业于美国密歇根大学文学系，获文学硕士学位，期间去欧洲进修美术，在国外多次举办油画展，是中国早期从事油画创作的学者。
Zhang Yungu was born in Wuxian County of Jiangsu in 1905 and graduated from Literature Department of University of Michigan where he got a master's degree. During that period, he also extended his study in Europe and held many exhibitions abroad.
