A ‘TWO DRAGON’ BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN WATER POT, TAIBAIZUN POSSIBLY BY JIANGXI CI YE GONGSI COMPANY CHINA, 20TH CENTURY A dome-shaped water pot, with a waisted neck and an everted rim. Finely painted in underglaze cobalt blue with two flying five-clawed dragons. The base is inscribed with a cobalt blue six-character mark in kaishu dispatched on three columns and reading ‘江西瓷業公司’ for ‘Jiangxi Ciye Gongsi’, a porcelain company based in Jingdezhen. H: 8 cm Note: It is believed that the Jiangxi Porcelain Company (JPC), the most well-known porcelain company of the first half of the 20th century, replaced the imperial kilns. Based in Jingdezhen, it was using the kilns of Zhushan (lit. ‘Pearl Mountain’ kilns).
