Eighteenth century niche. Carved, gilded and polychrome wood. Measurements: 220 x 130 x 35 cm. Baroque niche made entirely of carved and gilded wood, except for the oval medallion on the base, which has a polychrome heraldry. The decorative elements, based on lateral scrolls, a scallop on the crest and foliate motifs covering the entire body, are typically Baroque. Floral bouquets hang from the projecting scrolls. Rockery motifs decorate the coat of arms. Despite their rich proliferation, the plant motifs are carefully symmetrical, and the same decoration is repeated on each side around a moulded semicircular arch. The piece was made to contain a religious image.
