汪亚尘 1894年生于浙江杭州。1915年曾与陈抱一等人组建中国第一个画会组织“东方画会”。1916年东渡日本留学，1921年毕业于东京美术学校西画系，同年回国，被聘为上海美专教授兼教务主任。1928年至1931年赴欧洲作艺术考察，归国后曾任新艺术专科学校教务长、新华艺术师范学校校长。
Wang Yachen was born in Hangzhou of Zhejiang in 1894. In 1915, he established the first painting society 'Oriental Painting Society' in China with others like Chen Baoyi. One year later, he went to Japan for further study and graduated from Western Painting Department of Tokyo University of the Arts in 1921 and returned to China to start his career as a professor of Shanghai Training School of Fine Arts in the same year. After his art tour in Europe between 1928 and 1931, he was employed as Dean of New Arts Academy and President of Xinhua Art Normal School successively.
