A collection of Chinese jade carvings, 20th century, comprising: a pair of tiger tallies, incised with archaic script, each half with internal interlocking character marks, 11.2cm long, another tiger tally, with russet inclusions, 6cm long, a literatus, standing with a fan behind his back, 9cm tall, a snuff bottle, plain, 7.5cm long, and a recumbent dog, 6.8cm long (9) Provenance: The collection of David Widdicombe QC (1924-2019); thence by descent. Condition report: The pair of tiger tally's purchased from Kwok Gallery, Singapore. 6 March 1999 for £190. Both with chips to edges. Single tiger tally - minute chips to edges. Literatus - chips to edges. A small crack to the bottom of fan. Snuff bottle - stopper missing, minute chips to stopper mouth. Dog - Cracks to stone. A small chip to rear left foot.
