Two Japanese woodblock prints mid-19th century, comprising: Utagawa Kunisada I (Toyokuni III, 1786-1865) Iwai Shijaku I as Tsuwaka Mydou no Kami 37.5 x 25cm, and Utagawa Toyokuni (1786-1865) Actor Ichikawa Danjuro VIII as Jitsumu Shonin Jiraiya, looks up at the stars as he holds a compass 35 x 23.5cm (2) Condition report: Kunisada - published by Izumiya Ichibei (Kansendo), central panel. Restored. Tears to corners and edges. Small holes to lower section. Colours faded. Stains, dirt marks, creases and cockling throughout. Toyokuni - published by Kogaya Katougore. Blockcutter: Otaya Takichi (Hori Takichi). Only left part of a diptych. Small holes, dirt marks and stains, tears to edges, colours faded, foxings. A tear to the top central section with repair to the back.
