A Japanese Arita bowl, c.1750, of lobed form, painted with flowering branches emanating from the rockwork in shaped panels with green, blue, yellow, grey and red enamels, the interior with a peony head surrounded by leaves within a medallion, surrounded by further peony sprays, the base with a leaf mark in iron red, 17.2cm diameter Provenance: The collection of the late Roger Soame Jenyns (1904-1976), a former curator of the British Museum and author of many books; thence by descent within the family. Condition report: Some enamel losses, scratches to glaze.
