There is an old damage above the standing boy’s head which has been repaired through lining. The paint layer is worn and abraded in many areas but in a stable condition overall. There are areas of retouching across the surface which are well matched to the original. The varnish is clear and even but brittle with abrasion at the edges caused by framing. Overall the appearance of the painting is good.
