Containing the most notable things, made & published by Catholics as well as by those of religion, from the third Edict of Pacification made in August 1570 to the reign of Henry the Third, the... Meidelbourg, (Geneva?), Henrich Wolf, 1577. 3 volumes in-8 of [8]-783; [4]-790; 410-[2] leaves, half red morocco, with glazed edges (19th century binding). RARE ORIGINAL EDITION with all three volumes as of 1577. These memoirs contain countless historical accounts (massacres, sieges, famous trials and interrogations, the state of the provinces of France...). Note the complete "Discourse on Military Servitude" (Volume 3, leaves 160 to 191), a major work written at the age of 18 by Etienne de La Boétie. Past backs.
