In the Style of Chen Jiru (1558-1639), Autumn Landscape after Juran (active ca. 960-985), China, ca. 17th/18th ct. hanging scroll, 135,5 x 53 cm, ink and light colors on silk. Inscription by the artist with seven word poem and signature: "In the style of Juran, Meigong Chen Jiru." Two seals of the artist: "Seal of Chen Jiru" (Chen Jiru yin), "Meigong". Chen Jiru, style name Meigong, was a famous landscape painter from Huating near Shanghai. Together with Dong Qichang (1555-1636) he was one of the intellectual founders of the literati school of painting. Juran was one of their leading masters in this tradition.
