A FINE SILVER AND COPPER INLAID BRONZE FIGURE OF TARA, SWAT VALLEY, ca. 9th ct., seated in vajrasana on a throne cast with a pair of lions, their eyes silver-inlaid, placed on a lotus base decorated with a pair of kneeling worshippers, their hands in namaskaramudra, both with silver-inlaid eyes, her right hand lowered in varadamudra while the left is raised holding the stem of a lotus flowering along her upper arm, wearing pleated sari, scarf draped around her shoulders, encircling both arms with its finials falling down, bejewelled, her face displaying a serene expression with downcast silver-inlaid eyes, copper-inlaid urna, elongated earlobes decorated with large ear rings and her hair combed in a chignon secured with a tiara ornamented with a pair of floating ribbons - Provenance: From an important collection of Tibetan art, assembled prior to 2010 - Wear, partly chipped
