款识：“吴门顾二娘造”楷书款
此砚以端石随形雕就，主体为太狮少狮，大狮盘卧，幼狮趴附其背上。狮子腹部巧作砚堂，一侧阴刻“吴门顾二娘造”楷书款。
顾二娘，中国清代女制砚工匠。苏州人。生卒年不详，约活动于雍正至乾隆之际。与当时著名藏砚家黄任相交，并为之制砚，以其技艺精良，深得黄任赞赏。顾二娘制砚，做工不多，以清新质朴取胜，虽有时也镂剔精细，但秾纤合度、巧若神工。另外她还善于巧妙地利用石纹的“眼”作为凤尾翎来镌刻砚的图案，收到良好的效果。顾二娘所制的砚台，广受文人士大夫们的欢迎，在当时有很大影响，因而出现过许多他人仿制的赝品。
