Dedicated to the medium of oil painting, Chen Junde was president of the Shanghai Oil Painting Society. In 1979 Chen Junde joined Liu Haisu, Yan Wenliang and Guan Liang for a four-person joint exhibition in Shanghai. Solo exhibitions for the artist in Hong Kong in 1991, 1992 and 1995, in addition to Japan 1992, and Paris 1999, compliment several publications dedicated to the artist's career and his bold, Fauvist compositions.
