He graduated from the Nanjing University of the Arts in 1961 and thereafter taught at the university. The artist retired in 1996 and currently resides in Hefei, Anhui Province. His paintings have been collected by the British Museum, the Ashmolean Museum, National Gallery of Australia, National Gallery Singapore, National Art Museum of China, etc.
