STATUETTE DE VISHNU EN GRÈSCambodge, époque Transition, style du Kulen, milieu du IXe siècle A SANDSTONE FIGURE OF VISHNU Cambodia, Transitional Period, Kulen style, mid 9th century Standing in the prescribed hieratic pose with his arms high and fanned out from the body. The remains of the supporting structure are seen as posts rising from the base, stand. 28cm (11in) high. (2). Provenance: Robert Rousset, Paris (1901-1981), acquired in the 1950's-1970's Jean-Pierre Rousset, Paris (1936-2021) The Khmer king Jayavarman II, moved his capital from Vyadhpura to Hariharalaya in the late eighth century. A small corpus of important sculptures, including this Vishnu are associated with the small temples built during this period under his reign.
