大河原邦男 1947年生于东京都稻城市。毕业于东京造型大学。是日本最早的动画专业机械设计师，在《神勇飞鹰侠》中的机械设计成功奠定了他机械设计宗师的地位，而《机动战士高达》则是他设计生涯的巅峰。高达模型也是几十年来高达动画不可动摇的周边产品，深受手办爱好者的欢迎。
Kunio Okawara was born in Inagi City of Tokyo in 1947 and graduated from Tokyo Zokei University. As an earliest mechanical designer in animation industry, he has successfully designed machines for Gatchaman Crowds which marks his maturity in creation. Gundam is the summit of Okawara’s career and the Gundam related products which have been sold for decades now still win warm praise from the fans.
《机动战士高达》是日本真实系机器人卡通的元祖级作品，放映于1979年，动画由富野由悠季导演，Sunrise公司制作。是日本动画作品中最著名、最经久不衰、最庞大、也是盈利最高的系列。
