Anton Kothgasser Vienna Finely Painted St Stephens Cathedral, Amber Beaker 1820'sFootnotes: Anton Kothgasser (1769-1851) was an important Atrian glass decorator and enameller of the early 19th Century in Europe. Having begun his career as a painter at the Royal Vienna Porcelain Manufactory, he established his own workshop in 1813 making enamelled glass c. These were often decorated with finely-detailed landscape and topographical scenes, and quickly became popular during the so-called 'Biedermeier' period of the first half of the 19th Century. Examples of Kothgasser work can be seen in a number of prominent meums including the Victoria and Albert Meum in London, and the Metropolitan Meum in New York.12cm tall
