椭圆形，下有磨口，墨面双钩“知白守黑，知雄守雌”八字，阳署“闇然室珍藏”，墨背绘雌雄二鸡与三小鸡，寓知白守黑，知雄守雌意，左上角钤“天章”印，印底填青。墨通体涂金，模刻精到，小巧可爱。吴天章［明末清初］，名倬，号闇然室主人，肆名青琅轩、闇然室，徽州休宁派制墨名家，以康熙初年所制墨品质最高。
