如意精选缜密坚实的黄杨木整雕而成，首端弯卷呈云头式，减地浮雕云蝠拱寿纹，柄身细长，线条弯曲巧致，边缘起线，雕云寿纹，结体古拙，刀法圆熟，寓意福寿延年，风气高古。如意尾端结绿红丝穗，端庄雅致，将如意祥瑞修仙之意衬托得分外浓鬱，意态适然，应是庆寿时所用。黄杨木质地坚韧，纹理细腻，年份越久远，越见古朴文雅。明清以来，如意作为陈设把玩之具倍受皇室推崇，凡值年节，皇族互赠如意相庆贺。
