Rare ‘Z’-shape Chair Pierre JEANNERET (1896-1967) [Model: PJ-SI-59-A] Low chair known as "kangourou" in solid teak wood and braided canework. Canework seat and backrest on a profiled teak wood structure forming a base at the back. Two slanting, profiled legs at the front. Slightly curved backrest, with leg following on from the seat to form a horizontal "Z" shape. Produced for several buildings in Chandigarh, there are slight variations in size and finish to each chair indicating that, as was the case with much of the furniture for Chandigarh, the pieces were made at different times in a number of different workshops.
