JAPANESE BRONZE FOUR-SECTION VASE MEIJI PERIOD OR LATER 明治或更晚 壽民款 銅鑄四方瓶 cast on a square short foot, rounded body, slender long neck and slightly flared mouth, the base engraved with a two-character '壽民' mark (28cm high) Qty: (1) Provenance: From the collection of Arthur Halcrow Verstage (1875-1969) Arthur Halcrow Verstage was in 1903 a student and assistant at the Central School of Art in London where William Lethaby was principal and a great influence. From here he became an architect for London County Council and was involved with many London societies, and not least The William Morris Society where he was an office bearer. His large and varied collection, amassed from 1902 to 1972, reflected his wide interest in the arts. His archive is now held by the William Morris Gallery at Walthamstow.
