此像为阿弥陀佛的标准形象，头部螺发肉髻，象征菩提智能，面相圆润端庄，大耳垂肩，弯眉如月，眼睑低垂，鼻梁挺拔，神态慈祥柔和。圆肩修身，身躯挺拔显修长之态，着坦右衲衣，衣角搭于右肩之上，下着僧群，衣纹以湿衣法表现，简约流畅，有“曹衣出水”之感。双腿笔直，跣足立于莲座之上。 阿弥陀佛是梵文“阿弥陀婆佛陀”和“阿弥陀庚斯佛陀”的音译略称，意思是“无量寿”和“无量光”，是主持西方极乐世界的教主，与观世音和大势至菩萨，共奉为“西方三圣”。大乘经载，阿弥陀佛在过去久远劫时曾立大愿，建立西方净土，广度无边众生，成就无量庄严功德，而为韩国、日本等大乘教区所广为崇敬和弘扬。其中汉传佛教的净土宗，则完全以往生阿弥陀佛的西方净土作为专修的法门。
