A late Victorian gold old-cut diamond star locket. Estimated total diamond weight 2.15cts, H-J colour, SI2-P2 clarity.Length 7.9cms. 33.4gms. Overall condition good to fair. General moderate marks and wear, with some small scratches, dents and areas of discolouration. Glass panels to the inside appear in good condition. Diamonds fairly bright. Central diamond with a chip to the girdle. Some other diamonds with small nicks and chips. Width 3.8cms. Metal tests between 18ct and 21ct gold. Likely 15 or 18ct gold with a gilt finish. Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns. Fellows does not guarantee the standard of gold or platinum unless an item is hallmarked.
