这件铜炉为晚明时期作品，色泽似栗壳，表面光素无文，包浆浓厚，古气顿生，以点金为装饰，斑斓闪耀，参差相映，典正大气中又蕴端庄，击之则有清越之声。整体呈圆形，侈口束颈，鼓腹圈足，两侧作鱼耳，为鱼耳炉之典型。《宣德彝器图谱·廿卷谱》称鱼耳炉“款制典雅，为诸炉之冠”。《格致镜原》载：“宣德铜器，以炉鼎为首。入赏鉴者，如鱼耳炉、鳅耳炉……以上诸款，皆上品赏鉴也。”这件鱼耳炉底部有“大明宣德年制”楷书款，形制与故宫收藏的一件明代鱼耳炉相类，堪称佳品。参考资料：《故宫收藏-紫禁城》总第242期P57，故宫出版社，2015年
