A Japanese hanging scroll, early 20th century, anonymous, of a monk wearing a red kasaya, seated with a vajra in front of him, inscribed, ink and colour on paper, 100 x 41cm Provenance: The property of an English diplomat, who travelled and collected widely, acquired prior to 1940. Condition report: The mountings badly damaged, fragile. Tears and splits throughout. One metal mounting missing. Water stains, foxings, dirt marks. Creases and cockling. Some paint losses.
