A brass monocular microscope, second half of the 19th century, by Charles Baker, with rack and pinion focusing and circular stage over a concave mirror, inscribed 'Baker 244 High Holborn, London', in a fitted mahogany box, with a magnifying glass on a stand, two cased objectives, alternative stage, fifteen slides including insect wings and glued in paper magnifying power chart, 21cm wide 17cm deep case 47cm high to top of handle Condition report: The case has a split to top, loss of small piece in the back left corner exposing a dovetail, various marks, scuffs, scratches, dents. Microscope - focussing tube has deterioration to lacquer with horizontal lines.
