A twelve-setting canteen of silver cutlery, by William Hutton & Son Ltd., London 1899, in old English and shell pattern, with heraldic crest, comprising: 12 dinner forks, 11 dessert spoons, 10 dessert forks, 12 serving spoons, 11 pairs of fish knives and forks, a pair of fish servers, a pair of salad servers, 4 sauce ladles, 9 teaspoons, a pair of basting spoons, a soup ladle, 2 shell butter dishes, and 4 small egg-shaped cruet sets with 7 tiny spoons, 139ozt weighable silver, not including fish cutlery, fish servers and salad servers Condition report: The set is incomplete. Missing: 1 dessert spoon, 2 dessert forks, 1 pair of fish knives and forks, 3 teaspoons, the weight does not include items that have integral non-silver parts, such as handles. Forks have worn and uneven tines. Fish cutlery had discolouration, fading of crests and some splits to handles. Oak box split to the top and with tarnished lacquered brass mounts.
