A diminutive oak dressing bureau, early 18th century, the dome-topped upper section with a single door, set with an arching bevelled mirror plate, enclosing drawers and pigeonholes, over a fall front with a fitted interior, a short fitted single drawer and raised on a stand set with a further single drawer, candle slides to either side and straightened front cabriole supports terminating in pointed pad feet, 59.5cm wide 35cm deep 162cm high Literature: F. Lewis Hinckley, Queen Anne & Georgian Looking Glasses, 1990 Condition report: Split to the domed top. Spits to top of pediment. Patch repairs. Mirror plate with slight foxing and degradation. Lock re-set, which is visible from the outside. Areas of wear around escutcheons. Possible restoration to front lip of interior of fall. Hinges pinned in place. Possible new timber 1/2 inch strip. Stand with various old repairs and patches. Numerous old breaks and repairs to legs. Possible replacement to back legs. Splits to backboards. Upper cabinet section held in place with three wedge dovetails, onto which it slides. Of good colour. Well patinated, excellently proportioned and generally a lovely little piece of furniture.
