R... Guillevin (19th century) An Oriental beauty signed 'R Guillevin' l.r., oil on canvas 100 x 73cm, unframed Condition report: Oil on canvas which is unlined. The canvas tension is slightly slack with minor undulations across the surface. Stretcher bar marks have formed where the canvas rests against the wooden stretcher behind, notably where the horizonal cross bar is. There is a card label partially adhered to the paint surface at the top right edge. The paint layer has a network of age cracks which are slightly raised but stable. The paint layer has suffered from abrasion with small losses and scratches across the surface. There is a thin varnish layer present which is dull with a thick dirt layer present. There are splashes and drips across the surface which appears to be where the dirt layer has been disturbed.
