Josiah Taylor (1819-1877) 'Dover Regatta, August 27th 1861, the 'Audax' 59 tons, J H Johnson Esq., winning the £40 prize' signed 'Josiah Taylor' on mount, and also inscribed on mount, watercolour and bodycolour 38.5 x 65.5cm Condition report: The paper has discoloured and there are large brown stains throughout. Some small specks of brown foxing in places. A little surface dirt. An area of grey to the right of the sail which we assume is intended to be smoke but looks a little incongruous. The gum arabic in the sea is cracking very lightly in some places. A pale diagonal line above the buildings in the lower left corner. Not seen outside of glazed frame.
