A rosewood reclining library armchair, c.1840, by Jeanselme, the reclining back seat, arms and pull-out footrest upholstered in red leather, raised on reeded tapering legs and brass and leather castors, stamped with maker's name to the underside of the seat rail, 70cm wide 86cm deep 105cm high The French cabinetmakers Jeanselme, were founded in 1824 by Charles-Joseph-Marie Jeanselme and supplied furniture to Louis-Philippe and Napoleon III. Condition report: Leather cracked in places but free from holes, old dents, marks and staining in places, knocks and light marks consistent with age and use, slight shrinkage to the leather at edges of seat and back under brass studs old worm to the underside
