A Victorian coromandel and brass-mounted writing slope, by G Betjemann & Sons, c.1870, the hinged fall with gilt-tooled velvet writing surface enclosing a satin birch interior with label inscribed 'Wedgwood & Son 9 Cornhill', rising to a removable pen tray enclosed by two inkwells, a central button inscribed 'Betjemann's Patent No 124' releasing the back section with divided compartments, 37cm wide 28cm deep 14.5cm high Provenance: Norris & Duvall, 7 February 1991, lot 850 - the catalogue is included with this lot. Condition report: Very small split to back right lower corner, overall very clean condition.
