He was a senior editor of Shanghai People's Fine Arts Publishing House, professor of Central Academy of Fine Arts, standing director of China Artists Association, vice president of Shanghai Artists Association, etc. He was also the winner of the First Prize of National Artworks by Young Artists in 1957 and the First Prize of the 1st and 2nd National Comic Book Strip Contests. Masterpieces include Transformation of the Rural Area, Battle on the Train and The White Light.
