Originally named Zhang Zhenyu, he served China Youth Art Theatre as an art design consultant. In 1952, he joined the China Artists Association，and then became consultant for China Pictorial and Fine Art. He has many painting and calligraphic works as well as publications like On the Stage Art, Taiwan after Restoration and so on.
