Thomas Rose Miles (fl.1869-1906) 'Daybreak on the Doggerbank, trawlers 'hove-to'' Signed l.l., also signed and inscribed verso, oil on canvas 61 x 107cm, unframed Condition report: Oil on canvas which has been lined. An inscription which was probably on the original canvas has been copied onto the reverse of the lining canvas. The canvas is in plane with good tension. There is a minor concave indentation near the right hand edge with small paint loss at the centre. The varnish layer is slightly yellowed but even and semi-glossy. There are scattered retouchings across the surface which are slightly mismatched to the original.
