NOTE Graduated from the Indochina School of Fine Arts in 1936, 7th promotion, Nguyen Gia produces a very large number of works on panels, screens, doors, surrounded by a team of lacquer craftsmen. From 1946 to 1951, he lived in Hong Kong, then moved to Saigon in 1954. After having favoured oil painting, he turned to the technique of lacquer and brought to their peak the pictorial and decorative possibilities of this material.
From 1966 on, he produces abstract paintings in lacquer.
Many paintings are kept in the National Museum of Viet Nam as well as in several private collections in the United States, China, Japan and especially in France.
